Floresville FFA competed Tuesday, November 6, in the Guadalupe Valley District Leadership Contests held at Marion Middle School. Floresville FFA had a good day and the results are below:
Competing in the Job Interview Contest was Lauren Moon. Lauren placed 11th. In this contest, FFA members are to go through all of the motions of applying and interviewing for a job.
Competing in Creed Speaking was Julie Rakowitz. Julie placed 4th. In this contest, FFA members must recite the FFA Creed from memory and then answer questions afterwards.
Competing in Agricultural Advocacy was Kaitlin Casanova, Kristin Greer, Alexandra Morris and Katy Eaton. This team placed 2nd and will advance to the Area VII FFA Contest on Monday. In this contest, team members are to give a presentation about the field of Agriculture to a target audience. This year’s target audience is the American Food Consumer. This is the first year that the FFA has held this contest.
Competing in FFA Radio Broadcasting was Haley Wares, Emerald Starling, and Jade Lopez. This team placed 1st and will advance to the Area VII FFA Contest on Monday. In this contest, FFA members give a “radio show” to the judges about a current Agricultural topic. Our topic this year is the oil boom in our area. This is the second time in the last three years for Floresville’s radio team to win district.
Competing in FFA Public Relations was Jewel Jimenez, Taylor Wall, Brielle Brown and Rachel Miksch. This team placed 1st and will advance to the Area VII FFA Contest on Monday. In this contest, team members are to give a presentation to a target audience about the FFA. This year’s target audience is a local service organization. This is the 3rd year in a row for Floresville to win district and the 6th year in a row for Floresville’s team to qualify for Area.
