Female Student of the Month – December
Zoey Wiatrek is the 17 year-old daughter of Kristen and Joey Wiatrek. Her approximate ranking in her senior class is 5 with a GPA of 101.5. Her strengths are: Achiever, Strategic, Woo, Maximizer and Communication.
Zoey is very active in many different organizations on campus as well as in the community. She is in National Honor Society and serves as Secretary of FFA having served as Sentinel and President the past two years. She has received the Lonestar Degree and the Greenhand Degree through FFA. She is also a member of the Bentwood 4-H where she has served as Vice-President for the past 3 years. In addition, she served as her class secretary, and participates in Texas High School Rodeo where she has received many awards as a Breakaway Roper.
Zoey works as a coop student assisting the 1st grade team at Floresville South Elementary and works part-time at Southern Soule. Even though she is very active and takes all advanced and dual credit classes, she finds time to help in her community with Highway Clean-Up, Christmas caroling, canned food and toy drives.
Zoey has been accepted to Texas A&M University – College Station where she plans to study animal science and pharmaceutical sales in agriculture.
Male Student of the Month – December
Garrett McCoy is the 17-year-old son of Julie and Garrett McCoy. He has an approximate GPA of 3.7. His strengths are: Adaptability, Focus, Competition, Analytical and Restorative.
Garrett is in the National Honor Society and has taken Art/Drawing for four years. Garrett has found his true passion in art and has chosen to hone those skills. In taking Art-Drawing all four years of high school, he has built his artistic abilities, and his talent is truly amazing. He is a phenomenal artist.
He is in all advanced and dual credit classes which takes up most of his time; although, he participates in various community service projects as he can. As a member of the National Honor Society, Garrett takes advantage of the many community service projects the organization does throughout the year. He volunteers with the local Veterans’ Home during the Veterans’ Day activities we have, volunteers to work various school events such as our tailgate parties and gardening days, and gives of his time freely for many other events that arise.
Garrett has applied to Texas A&M University – College Station where he plans to major in Civil Engineering. His artistic skills will definitely assist him as he works towards his goal of an engineering degree and profession.
