There are more than 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas including almost 80,000 minors and youth victims, according to a study by the Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault at the University of Texas.
On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, Floresville ISD has invited Cara Little of Harvest House to provide an age appropriate presentation for students in grades 7-12 about this important topic. The presentation will include general information about human trafficking with specific information about how students can help prevent trafficking by reducing dangerous behaviors and being able to recognize characteristics of a human trafficker. Ms. Little will share how students can decrease their vulnerability by avoiding social media and online predators as well as share resources for students if they, or their friends, are approached by a human trafficker.
We know that this kind of information is important to the safety of our students. We also understand that parents and guardians may want to preview this information before it is shared with their children. For that reason, FISD has asked Ms. Little to share her presentation with interested parents on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. at the Floresville Middle School Cafeteria.
