End of Course Test (EOC) Updates

April 24, 2020

Dear Parent,

Texas Education Agency (TEA) which oversees all public education in Texas has recently updated its guidance for End of Course Test (EOC) given the changes necessary due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The new guidance states that the required performance on academic assessments (EOC) under TEC, §28.025(c), and §39.025(a) are being waived for spring 2020 only. This means:

1. Any 9th-11th grade student that is currently enrolled in an EOC course (Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, US History), the EOC passing requirement will be waived if the student receives credit for the entire course. (i.e. Students must have an average of 70 or better for the entire school year-semester one and semester two averaged).

2. Any student that is not graduating and has an outstanding EOC assessment that they have not passed from a previous year, will still need to retake and pass that EOC assessment before graduation.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor or school administrator.

Respectfully,

Marcia Gonzales
