Graduation Information & Guidelines

Graduation- Friday, May 29, 2020-8:00 p.m. at Eschenburg Field

We know that this year has held many disappointments and missed opportunities to celebrate you and your accomplishments. We are pleased to be able to hold your graduation at Eschenburg Field to celebrate you as traditionally as possible while keeping you and our community healthy and safe.

Procedures and Guidelines

The modified graduation plan below is based on Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order No. GA-21 issued on May 5, 2020, and follows the guidance of the Texas Education Agency.

Family and friends that are not receiving a ticket cannot attend the ceremony, stand near the fence, or stand outside the stadium.

No gifts of any kind will be allowed in the stadium (cards, balloons, flowers, etc.)

Social distancing should be adhered to while on school grounds, before, during and after the graduation ceremony.

The wearing of masks is highly encouraged while in the parking lot and as families are being seated.

There will be no concession stand, however, water will be provided at your seats.

TICKETS:

Ticket pick up will be May 26 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and May 27 between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the FHS bus lane. The graduate must be present at ticket pick up. Please stay in your vehicle during ticket pick up. Tickets must be picked up no later than May 27th.

Each graduate will receive 1 ticket that will admit a maximum of 4 people. Young children and infants are included in the four-person restriction. On the back of the ticket, you will list the graduate and the 4 family members attending the ceremony and certify the health screening information included on the form. No one will be admitted without the ticket and the health screening information completed. Tickets may not be exchanged due to the social distancing requirements.

ARRIVAL, PARKING, AND ENTRANCE

Graduates and their families should arrive in the same vehicle. Parking lots and stadium gates will open at 7 p.m.

Students with last names beginning with A-Lew must park in the band practice parking lot and wait until a police officer indicates that you may leave your vehicle. Then, the graduate and their family will enter the stadium at the Ticket Booth across from the practice gyms.

Students with last names beginning with Li-Z must park in the auditorium parking lot and wait until a police officer indicates that you may leave your vehicle. Then, the graduate and their family will enter the stadium at the ticket booth near the concession area.

SEATING

Upon entrance, tickets will be checked and an usher will lead families to their seats, and graduates will be seated on the field. Seating for guests will be available on both the home and visitor sides of the stadium. Seating is first-come, first-serve and social distancing will be adhered to. Family groups will be seated 6 ft. from each other. 

Reserved seating for disabled persons will be available. The parent of the graduate must call the high school at 830-393-5370 no later than 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 28th to reserve handicap seating. The entire family will be seated together.

Individuals will not be allowed to loiter or stand along the fence, railing, or concession stand area before, during, or after the ceremony. Restrooms will be open but occupancy will be limited to maintain social distancing.

PHOTOS

There will not be an opportunity to take photos before or after the ceremony on the school grounds

Photos will be taken by the school district’s designated photographer. No one is permitted to move about to take pictures. Individual photos will be taken by Lifetouch when graduates walk to the stage with their diplomas. Floresville High School is purchasing an 8x10 for every senior that will be mailed to graduates’ homes. Additional photos will also be available for viewing and purchase at events.lifetouch.com. An information flyer will be placed in the diploma packet.

FAMILY & GRADUATE DISMISSAL

At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates and their families will be dismissed by the graduate name to allow for social distancing leaving the stadium. The graduate and family will exit the same gate used to enter. Graduates and their families must vacate the premises immediately after the ceremony. Graduates are not allowed to congregate and mingle with family or friends after the ceremony.

WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS

In the event of a prolonged power outage, heavy rain or inclement weather of any kind,  the ceremony will be canceled. It will not be rescheduled. Students will be contacted about when they can pick up their diplomas. 

Please be advised that guidance provided by Governor Abbott and TEA is subject to change as underlying public health conditions change. Any decisions made will be in the best interest of the safety, health and well-being of our students, staff, and community. Any changes to the graduation plan will be communicated with parents and students as soon as possible.

CEREMONY REQUIREMENTS and IMPORTANT NOTES

There will be no graduation rehearsal.

All graduates should follow the Secondary District Dress Code.

Graduates may decorate their mortarboards. There should be no vulgar language, political messaging or hate speech.

Graduates should arrive fully dressed in cap and gown with the white-collar attached.

Any graduation candidate who arrives for the graduation ceremony under the influence of illegal substances or alcohol will not be allowed to participate.

Students will participate in a Processional once the ceremony starts but guests are not allowed out of their seats to take pictures or video.

There will not be a Senior Circle and/gathering of any sort during the ceremony. During the alma mater, students will not be permitted to link hands.

Students will not be permitted to throw graduation caps in the air.

Always be aware that your behavior during the ceremony will forever reflect not only on yourself but your parents and your classmates as well.
