In an effort to keep you informed, I wanted to share with you a message that was just sent to secondary parents
If you haven’t heard yet, our Tigers are Football District Champs after defeating Southside Friday night, 31 to 17. We begin playoffs this coming Friday night, November 11th, at 7:30 at Buccaneer Stadium in Corpus Christi against CC King High School.
In order to deliver football players, band, cheerleaders, dance team, JROTC, etc., on time, we will need to have an early release for secondary students (middle and high school) on Friday, November 11th. If we release secondary students two hours early, it allows buses time to run the secondary routes and return in time to pick up elementary students at their regular time.
This has been an exciting first few months of school in which many of our FHS students have recognized for their success in extra curricular activities: Athletics, Band, FFA, JROTC, and Theatre Arts. We know there is a direct link to student involvement in extra curricular activities and their academic success and are proud of the many opportunities afforded to FISD students. We also recognize that, in most cases, student participation is dependent on parent support, and we appreciate the role our parents play in extra curricular activities as well.
I apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this change, but appreciate your understanding of the circumstances. At the game last Friday, our boys were awesome, the coaches did a tremendous job and our student body, parents and fans were full of spirit! This Friday promises to be an exciting game. I hope you can make it, to not only see an amazing football game, but to watch our band, cheerleaders, JROTC and dance team perform as well!
