February Students of the Month

February Female Student of the Month

Sophia Santos is the 17-year-old daughter of Kim and Cesar Santos.  She is in the top 10 percent of the class of 2018 with a 4.0 GPA. Her strengths are Communication, Competition, Woo, Futuristic and Includer.

Sophia is very active on campus participating in Band, Link Crew, and Student Council.  She serves as President of the National Honor Society and FCCLA and serves on the Principal’s Advisory Board.  Sophia also participates in the Fashion Design Competition through FCCLA, placing 4th in state last year, and is the current regional champion. In April,  she will compete in the State Championship again this year. 

Sophia is a member of the Jaguar Soccer team and was the mascot for FHS Cheer her freshman year.  She was the Parliamentarian for her 4-H group and has participated in Relay for Life and Knock Out Hunger events.  She works as a lifeguard at the Floresville City Pool during the summer and referees for All-City Youth Sports.  She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin where she will major in Fashion Design. 


February Male Student of the Month

Ryan Henke is the 17-year-old son of Natalie and Douglas Henke.  He is in the top ten percent of his class with a 4.0 GPA.  His strengths are Strategic, Competition, Maximizer, Communication, and Adaptability.

Ryan is an active member of the National Honor Society and has been recognized for All “A” Honor Roll.  He played football for two years and is completing his fourth year with the golf team, serving as captain for the past two years.  As a member of the FHS Golf Team he has placed 1st and 2nd at various tournaments and contributed to a 2nd place team win at district. 

He is active in the Floresville FFA as a member of the Ag Mechanics team.  He placed 4th at the Wilson County Stock Show last year and placed 3rd this year on the Ag Mechanics Trailer Team.

Ryan volunteers with the Floresville Opry each month since it was founded.  He also volunteers in many community clean-ups, working at Mission de las Cabras, and volunteering at Regency Manor Nursing Home. 

Ryan has been accepted at Texas Tech University where he will pursue  a mechanical engineering degree with a minor in petroleum engineering.
