FISD CTE Overview

Welcome to the exciting world of Career &Technical Education (CTE) at Floresville ISD! The Career & Technical Education Department, using integrated instruction and curricula; current technologies and state-of-the-art equipment and business partnerships, create a learning environment that empowers all students to enter the constantly changing workforce. At Floresville ISD, we strive to develop confident leaders and productive citizens with character and knowledge in preparation for a prosperous life.

Career & Technical Education courses are a great way for students to prepare for the highly technological and competitive workplace of the 21st century. CTE programs are designed to prepare students for life-long success in high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand occupations and career fields.

What Do CTE Programs Do?

·         Reinforce state and national academic standards
·         Provide students with instruction and training in career areas of interest
·         Link to business and industry in the region
·         Offer career development activities
·         Provide ability to earn certifications
·         Prepare students for challenges on higher education and a global, competitive workplace
·         Provide rigorous instruction through hands-on problem solving and projects
·         Allow students to receive college credit for courses taken through articulation with local community colleges.

FISD CTE Quick Facts

  • Approximately 1700 students in grades 8 - 12 enroll in CTE courses each year in FISD.

  • Approximately 19 instructors offer 60 different CTE courses in FISD.

  • CTE is the most diverse curriculum area in FISD, offering 14 different Programs of Study within 10 of the 14 TEA approved Career Clusters: Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Arts, AV Technology and Communication, Business Management, Education and Training, Health Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Information Technology, Law & Public Service, Manufacturing, and Transportation, Distribution and Logistics.
