The Floresville Independent School District announced the hiring of Lyle Key as the district’s new Chief of Police.
Chief Key joins FISD after serving as Lieutenant for the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, where he was assigned to the patrol and administration divisions.
Key began his career in law enforcement with the Georgetown Police Department in Georgetown, Texas. He was later appointed a Peace Officer with the City of Live Oak, the City of Alamo Heights, and ultimately a Deputy Sheriff with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. He has worked in law enforcement for 23 years and his experience includes tactical operations, administrative duties, and criminal investigations.
“The safety and security of our students and staff have always been a top priority for us at Floresville ISD, which is why I am excited to welcome Chief Key to our district,” Superintendent Dr. Jason Gilstrap said. “He will provide valuable leadership to our FISD Police Department and ensure we continue providing a safe learning and teaching environment for our students and staff.”
Chief Key is an active member of our Floresville community and is committed to serving our district. He’s a Floresville High School graduate, has worked numerous FISD events with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, and is a member of the FISD Safety and Security Committee.
Key's first day as FISD's Chief of Police was June 26, 2023. He was sworn in before the Board of Trustees during the June 28 special meeting.
