Floresville ISD announced the Teachers and Students of the Month for April.

Maribel Rios Alabarces, Spanish teacher at Floresville High School, was named Teacher of the Month during the Board of Trustees regular meeting on Monday, April 1. Mrs. Rios has been employed at Floresville ISD since August of 2016 and says that what she loves most about her job is watching her students become interested in learning about her culture and language. She is a council members of National Honor Society and a member of the LPAC committee. Mrs. Rios commutes to Floresville from San Antonio, where she lives with her husband of 25 years, their two children, and four dogs.

Jordan Tyler Salinas, a senior at Floresville High School, is one of two Students of the Month. Jordan has been a student at Floresville ISD since Kindergarten. In high school, he has served as Vice-President of the Class of 2024 twice and President of the Class of 2024 twice. He is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Jordan is in the top 7% of his graduating class, has earned District Academic Honors for the past three years, and has been a captain of the Varsity Soccer team for two years. He also earned the title of District Defensive MVP of 2023 and has helped his soccer team win the District Championship and the Bi-District Championship (2023). After graduating in May, he plans to pursue a degree in Business at Texas A&M San Antonio on a full scholarship.

Amanda Rodriguez, also a senior at Floresville High School, is the second Student of the Month. Amanda has been a student at Floresville ISD since the second grade. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council Officer, Link Crew Leader, Mighty Tiger Band Woodwind Lieutenant, TAFE Officer, and FFA Veterinary Medical Team Member. Amanda has competed at the state level twice with TAFE, in the Public Speaking category. Outside of school, she is a Little League Volunteer, officer for Junior Catholic Daughters of America, and Princess on the Floresville Peanut Festival Court of 2023-2024. She plans to attend Texas A&M San Antonio to become a doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
